Back in April 2026, Microsoft released a new mode for Windows 11 users known asĀ Xbox Mode. This became available through a Windows update at the time, and was accessible on desktops, laptops, and tablets, giving users a console-like experience on their devices.
Whether its a high-performance desktop, gaming laptop, or a Windows handheld, Xbox Mode makes it easier to jump into your games on your device. It adds another way to enjoy games on your PC, utilizing a controller-optimized full screen interface built for play.
Some users have labeled this as the similar Steam Big Picture mode, which turns your system into a full screen Steam experience, or a “Steam Machine” if you will.
Once a user receives the update for Xbox Mode, it can be activated simply in the Settings menu.
